THE CATHOLIC CHARACTER OF A CATHOLIC SCHOOL
Catholic Schools by their definition are ecclesial entities of the Catholic Church whose prime mission in the World is to :
a) Spread the Word of God
b) Celebrate the Sacraments
c) Carry out works of Charity
Catholic Schools carry out this mission through :
a) The school's educational programmes that spread the Word of God
b) Ensuring that parents/families know about (through supporting Parish Sacramental programmes) and giving opportunity for students to celebrate the Sacraments
c) Supporting pastoral care initiatives - Vinnies, Missions, CARITAS etc
Catholic Schools are very much part of the evangelising arm of the church and carry out the above mission in order encourage all in the community - teachers, staff, parents, students - to have a real ENCOUNTER with the living Christ.
The Special Catholic Character of our school is best seen in how we interact with each - and that we strive to see the person of Jesus in each other, and act accordingly.
