Electronic Devices & Internet Safety

Internet Safety

At St Patrick's we work with the company Linewize to ensure the safety of our students at school. This has many functions that our ICT staff and teachers can implement daily.

We also have an amazing parents portal filled with lots of useful information.
You can find it here

BYOD - Bring Your Own Device

Our vision is to allow our learners to be confident learners within different contexts.  We want our students to be confident digital citizens who are able to use a range of skills and capabilities to explore, investigate and critically think about the world they live in.

Students in Year 3 and up are allowed to bring their own device specified by the school.

Year 3-6 are allowed to bring CHROMEBOOKS only.

Year 7 & 8 have the option of Chromebook or Windows device.

Noel Leeming have set up this webpage with Chromebooks that they currently have. Please note this does not mean you have to purchase the Chromebook from here only.

If your child has a new Chromebook please send an email to aimee@stpatta.co.nz and you will be sent the needed paperwork.

Cellphones

We are aware that some students bring cellphones to school with them each day as they need them outside of school hours.

Our school policy states all personal mobile phones must be switched off and left at the school office during school hours (you can read it here).

Students can sign their phones in each morning and we will store them safely for the duration of the school day. They can sign them out again at the end of the school day.

Smart Watches

Our school policy states smart watches may be worn but all internet capabilities must be switched off while at school or switched to “school mode”

If the smart watch can not be switched to school mode we can store it safely for the duration of the day.
